So it is CRICTICAL that you understand keyword research in order to build highly pofitable keywords for your site.


Website optimization is most effective when included in the initial development and design of your website.

Search engine optimization is a POWERFUL marketing strategy. If done correctly, millions of internet visitors can find your site among milions of top search results.

Proven Search Engine Optimization Tips

Designing a search engine friendly web site is not about using many tricks to fool the search engines into favoring your web site.

But rather...

You need to follow tested methods to ensure you the most from your search engine optimization efforts.

SEO tips:

  • Define/know your keyword and phrases
  • Use consistent text-based site navigation menus that incorporate your keywords
  • Include your keywords in both the incoming and outgoing links to and from your pages
  • Use two and three word phrases (Long tail phrases) in the content of your web pages
  • Include keyword text tag (alt tag) with graphics or (ie Graphics based navigation menu)
  • Build a text site map that includes keyword link to every page on your site
  • Include keywords in your Meta tag
  • Change meta tags from page to (when it makes sense)
  • Include your most specific keywords in hyper-links on your pages

Meta Tag Use in SEO

Meta elements provide information about a given web page to help search engines group them correctly.

Most web site owners place more keywords in the Meta tag text in hope of ranking very high in search engines, but these texts are considered secondly text by the search engines.

Instead...

Start with your Specific Keyword (always put it first!). Then add a phrase that contains a slight variation of that word, and a common synonym for your Specific Keyword - not more than 4.

The title tag text and description text are the two most important places to put your specific keywords


Title Tag Use in SEO

The title tag of your web page is considered primary text by the search engines. All search engines index this text and put significant weight on it.

Remember that search engines display your page Title precisely the way you write it, so make sure it is as descriptive as possible.

  • Include your Specific Keyword once in the Title tag of your page near the beginning.
  • You can also add variations of your keyword in the Page Title, no more than twice, for second occurrence (ie. “web site design” and “site design”)

Description Tag Use in SEO

Even though this is the second important tag in search engine placement algorithms, some engines don’t seem to consider the Description tag in their relevance rankings.

But rather, they use the information as a description for search engine listings.

Here are the lists of strategies I use when building my web pages:

  • Use your Specific Keyword at least once
  • Make sure the description is attractive without misleading
  • Try and limit yourself to 150 – 200 characters (25 words)
  • Don’t repeat the Page Title in the description tag
  • Use one to two common synonyms or related keywords of your specific keyword

Hyperlinks Text Use in Search Engine Optimization

Hyperlinks text (anchor text) is of the many simple things that really matters. This means the use of keywords in anchor text - sometimes called linking text - is hugely important.

Anchor text is the clickable text that takes people to another page or resource. You need to choose that text carefully.


The anchor text on your pages can help improve your listing in the search engines.


Search engines understand that if you are linking to another web page from your page, then the content of that page you are linking to is possibly related to your page content.

Due to this reason...

The engines look for keyword in the anchor text and any text adjacent to the anchor text.

This means you should try and include your most important keyword phrases in the anchor text link and likely the neighboring text.

Introducing variety of linking text is also a good tactic. This keeps readers interested and is a good search engine optimization practice that provides additional information for the search engines.

There are basically two types of anchor text to consider - internal and external.


Internal Anchor Text - is the linking text that you use to link between pages within your site, which is completely within your control. So take advantage of it and use keyword rich linking text within your pages.


External Anchor Text - is the linking text that sits on external sites and links to your website or goes to external sites.

There are many situations where you can control the external text that links to you:

  • Link exchanges where you can ask for specific linking text to be used
  • Directory listings where you have editorial control and can specify the exact linking text that points to your site
  • In the author section of articles that you publish

By implementing these search engine optimization or seo tips, you will increase your site’s search engine visibility.
