Secret to Professional Internet
Web Site Design That Works

Do you want a professional internet web site design? The design of your site will depend on what you want to achieve.

This page explains in very simple terms the total process of professional web design that will help you do it right the first time. Your site needs to be simple, clean and well structured. It does not have to be fancy or complex.

You'll also find a lot of useful information and links to services and resources that will educate you on how to design your own web site.

Let's face it, it is a fact that you'll need to create or build a website in other to market your business or products to your target marketer. And the big problem most people have is they don't consider the essential ingredients to SEO success in the design of the website.

You see, website design is not about slapping up a one page billboard advertising your business, but about creating a collection of pages that invites, informs and convinces your readers that your business solves their problems. These pages need to have good content and be keyword optimized.

The first aim of professional web design should be ensuring that when potential customer's types in what they are looking for into their favorite search engine, your website is among the top results for their chosen words (known as keywords).

This is known as search engine optimization. Ideally, you should aim to be on the first page of the search engine results for a variety of different keywords, so a number of web pages need to be created to achieve this.

Here's the bottom line...

Even though optimizing your pages for high ranking is crucial to the success of your website, it is equally critical that you write each page for human visitors as well.

Let's take a look at a small selection of places on a web site, where keywords can be placed in order to make the search engines sit up and take notice of them. These are all well known and would be implemented by a good internet web site design company or should be by you that is if you creating your website yourself.

Many studies have already proven that each search engine puts a slightly different emphasis on the importance on keyword placements, so as a result they all become as important, as each other.

  1. Filenames

Most search engines like websites that include keywords in a URL, so a web design company with understanding of SEO will make sure that each page on your website contains a keyword in your URL. For example many sites are set up like this, which offer no search engine benefits whatsoever:

    websiteeaxample.com/16770.html
    websiteexample.com/67567.html
    websiteexample.com/79966.html

But, when your website is set up with URLS and filenames like below or with related keyword as the filename (this is due to Google's recent algorithms release - Penguin), each individual page is optimized for a different keyword term, the search engines will take more notice:

    websiteexample.com/keywordterm1.html
    websiteexample.com/keywordterm2.html
    websiteexample.com/keywordterm3.html

Also, it makes a good start along the road to having a variety of your web pages listed on the search engines for the different keywords your target customer types in, especially when the content of these pages are related to the specific keywords mentioned.

  2. Title Tags

The Title tag is a very important attribute when it comes to achieving high search engine rankings. Another important factor to bear in mind is that whatever is written in the title tag is what appears on the clickable link found in the search engine results, therefore what is written on them can affect your click through rate.

It is therefore best to have a descriptive phrase of what your page contains, including your keywords. Now incase you outsource the design of your site, make sure that the website design company you hire has extensive experience of creating winning title tags, as it's a well known SEO strategy.

  3. Meta keyword tags and description

The emphasis on meta tags and description is not as important as it once was with the bigger search engines, but it's still important to the smaller search engines. You should also bear in mind that the search engines regularly change their algorithms and how they rate the pages they index. It's very simple to do, so there is no reason not to, and pretty much all.

You should include 2 or 3 related keywords in the meta keywords tag section and then a description of what the page contains, including your main keyword term again.

  4. Header tags and text Modifiers

When a search engine sends out the spiders to index the individual pages of a website, it scans the page for header tags and text modifiers, so if these include relevant keywords, those pages will be indexed for them.

There are six types of header tags - H1 to H6. The most important to the search engines is the H1 tag. You can think of H1 tags like chapter headings and H2 - H6 tags like sub headings and are obviously ideal places to put keywords.

Text modifiers are things like bold, underlining and italics and serve two purposes, one for the search engine spiders and the other to emphasize certain points to your readers.

  5. Internal Links

Although there is a lot of talk about external links, internal links are just as important and a good internet web site design company will make sure that on page SEO factors (like internal links) are as strong as possible. Just make sure that the web design company or if you are doing the creating of the site yourself to only use exact match keyword about 10% of the time. Even a better idea is to use related keywords and not the exact keyword you trying to rank for (again this due to Penguin release).
